The Dolan Twins Say Its Time To Move On From YouTube In Emotional Video

The Dolan twins are taking a step back from their platform after no less than five years! As fans know all too well, the brothers have rarely skipped a Tuesday to upload new content all this time, but now, they feel like ‘it’s time to move on’ from the popular channel, which is also what the video is titled.

Ethan and Grayson sat down with Shane Dawson in the hour-long clip and discussed the reasons why they have taken this decision.

As it turns out, the pressure to always post new videos every week has affected their mental health negatively, as well as their lives in general.

Some of the things that really bother them when it comes to their videos have gotten even worse over the years and the twins made sure to be candid about everything.

They explained that they feel like they’re no longer the juvenile boys they still feel forced to portray on camera since they’ve matured and grown up a lot.

Another reason was the fact that they always create content with a fear inside that if they don’t, they would end up alienating their fans.

What truly triggered their realization that they no longer fit the platform was the tragic death of their father back in January, after battling cancer for two years.

It made them feel like they were always either taking care of him or filming and so, taking any time off for themselves made them feel guilty.

Putting happy faces on for the camera, even though they were unhappy felt wrong as well.

‘Had we not been filming a video every single week, we would’ve been able to spend more time with our family around the time they needed us,’ a tearful Ethan shared in the video.

When their dad passed away, the guys were also not really able to mourn properly because of the upload schedule.

Grayson admitted that ‘It’s f**ked, because I still don’t even sometimes realize that it happened.’

They did take a month off to grieve but since social media is such a competitive place, they felt like it would be too much time away from their channel.

That’s not to say they are leaving the platform for good!

Instead, Ethan stressed that ‘I’m not just gonna make s**t to f**king make s**t.’

From now on, the brothers are planning on only working on projects they are passionate about and that also means no upload schedule!
