Current Dallas Cowboy Crawford returns to Boise, prepares for NFL season

He spent two seasons at Boise State, but the City of Trees still means a lot to Tyrone Crawford.

"It's amazing," Crawford said. "The fans that we had and the community out here is awesome. They show a lot of support to us as players and even now in the NFL."

Crawford was in Boise this weekend for the Gridiron Dreams football camp, which was created by former Broncos Alex Guerrero and Jerard Rabb.

The defensive lineman played high school football in Windsor, Ontario and then spent two seasons at Bakersfield College.

He arrived at Boise State for his junior year in 2010 and in two seasons for the Broncos recorded 27 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks.

He was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

The past two seasons in Dallas, Crawford has started 31 games and notched eight sacks. He is now preparing for his fifth NFL season.

"We have OTAs (organized team activities) right now," Crawford said. "We go three days a week so it's not horrible. Our lifting schedule takes up most of our week."

Dallas has four former Boise State players on its roster (Crawford, Demarcus Lawrence, Kellen Moore and Orlando Scandrick). That's more than any other NFL team.

"Boise State guys are hardworking guys and we are very loyal," Crawford said. "We were coached well."

Perhaps the most-famous Bronco ever, Moore will be most likely competing for the backup quarterback role behind Tony Romo.

"It's looking really good for Kellen right now," Crawford said. "He's doing really well. When Tony is not going or has something to do, Kellen does a really good job of stepping in."

Dallas begins the regular season on Sept. 11 when the Cowboys host the New York Giants.
