Although ‘fame and fortune’ is one of the most popular phrases when describing people who have it all, the reality is that fame and fortune don’t always go hand in hand. Unfortunately; however, for people in the entertainment industry, living like you’ve got an endless cash flow is just part of the game – even when you really can’t afford it. All of those expensive cars and name brand items celebrities like to flaunt don’t always actually belong to them. Being famous may come with a lot of free perks, but sadly for some of these celebrities, money isn’t one of the. Although you may think some of your favorite stars are rolling in the dough – that may not be the case. Here are 10 celebrities who appear to be rich but aren’t.

Terrell Owens $5 million

Terrell Owens was once one of the most popular athletes in the NFL. His skills on the court combined with his often controversial attitude made him popular among fans. While his current net worth is more than most people will ever see, for him, it’s not very much. In fact, over the course of his professional football career, Owens had built a fortune of around $80 million dollars. Unfortunately; however, bad investments and poor money management caused his wealth to decrease. Although he’s tried several times to rebuild his brand and come back into the public eye, it looks like those days are long gone.

Lauryn Hill $2 million

Lauryn Hill is one of the most well-respected artists in R&B and hip-hop. As a member of The Fugees, Hill sold millions of records and earned two Grammy Awards. Her first and only solo project, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, is widely considered a classic. However, despite her success and popularity among fans, Hill has been largely absent from the spotlight over the years. As a result, her net worth has gone down to just $2 million. While that may seem like a lot to most people, it’s not a lot for someone who was once at the top of the industry.

Mike Tyson $1 million

Mike Tyson is arguably the greatest boxer of his generation. So with that being said, it goes without saying that he brought in a lot of money throughout his career. Sadly; however, Tyson did not have the right people around him, and that, combined with his over-the-top spending habits, almost left him back at square one. Now worth just $1 million, and with his boxing days long gone, only time will tell if Tyson is able to stay afloat.

Allen Iverson $1 million

During his career in the NBA, Allen Iverson was one of the most influential players on the court. Many credit Iverson with bringing the ‘hip-hop’ swag to professional basketball, and kids all over the country looked up to him for his attitude and skills. Iverson also had a large endorsement deal with Reebok that produced sneakers and other athletic gear in his name. However, like many former professional athletes, Iverson made poor financial decisions that left him picking up the pieces. Although he made millions of dollars, he is now worth just $1 million.

At the height of his career, Gary Busey was one of the most recognizable figures in Hollywood. However, by 2012, he was filing for bankruptcy – claiming that he had debts of over $1 million. While most celebrities who file for bankruptcy use it has a chance to re-assess their assets and get back on their feet, Busey continued to struggle even after the filing. Although he’s recently, been getting some more work, including an advertisement deal with Amazon, Busey’s current net worth is only $500,000

The Baldwin family is full of heavy hitters, but when it comes to money, Stephen Baldwin isn’t one of them. Although his resume is full of acting credits, and he’s found a decent amount of success, he has also had some serious financial struggles.
